Complete The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award by fostering with Animal Welfare League NSW and help save lives!
We are offering a unique opportunity to care for some of Australia’s most vulnerable animals. Your efforts will be rewarded with purrs, licks and eligible time to be put towards your Duke of Ed.
Fostering a dog, cat, kittens, or pocket pets will count towards Voluntary Service through a series of daily/weekly tasks to care for these animals. Participants also have the opportunity to learn new skills by training the animals whilst in care. For further information on what’s on offer, speak to our friendly team!
Fostering involves temporarily caring for an animal in your home, while they are waiting to be ready for adoption. AWL NSW provides all vet care at our on-site vet clinic at Kemps Creek at no cost to you. We also provide flea and worming treatment and have a dedicated Foster Care Officer to provide support and answer any questions you may have along the way. For those under 18, we ask that your parent/guardian signs up and takes legal responsibility for all fostering activities. However, we will be required to speak to both your parent and yourself for recruitment and throughout fostering. The person completing The Duke of Ed must be doing the majority of the work in caring for the foster animal.
*This opportunity is currently being offered at our Kemps Creek location only. Our dog and cat Foster Care Officers have a valid Working with Children Check (WWCC).
