Animal welfare services in regional NSW will receive a major boost with the opening of two new Animal Welfare Centres in Orange and Glen Innes. These purpose-built hubs will enhance support for animals in need and strengthen the capacity of inspectors across their communities.

Animal Welfare League NSW (AWL NSW) has seen a growing demand for welfare services in regional NSW. These new centres represent the second and third of three regional facilities being rolled out across the state, thanks to funding provided by the NSW Government.

Each centre will serve as a dedicated base for AWL NSW Inspectors, working to reduce cruelty and neglect through education, enforcement, and community outreach. The centres will also support local AWL NSW Branch volunteers.

The Orange and Glen Innes Regional Animal Care Centres will:

  • Raise awareness about animal welfare issues and promote responsible pet ownership
  • Strengthen partnerships between AWL NSW and local councils to improve the coordination of enforcement activities
  • Enable quicker response and resolution of animal cruelty complaints
  • Enhance data collection and analysis to guide future animal welfare strategies

By embedding inspectors and staff within these regions, AWL NSW aims to provide a faster, more effective response to cases of cruelty and neglect, ensuring every animal has the opportunity to live a safe, happy life.

The official opening of each centre is expected to occur in May.
